Video Mashup Cards for the Million Facebook Users Having a Birthday Today

Mashup Arts Launches its Birthday Application on the Corner of Facebook and YouTube.

Birthday Cards is a top 5 application on Facebook, and now with the new advanced features of Facebook Connect, Facebook users can quickly create Birthday Mashup Cards that mix in videos, music and funny picture effects for their friends.

The new application is called “Birthday Mashup Cards” and its themes are jokes, personal touches and shared creativity. It can be seen at http://apps.facebook.com/BdayMashup

“We want users to be able to browse through shared community cards to find something they like, and then mix in free Internet content from YouTube, Flickr, or even their own Facebook photos directly from the application” said Shaun MacDonald, CEO of Mashup Arts.  The best part of the application is that people can remix the card their way, making it more personal and funny.

Many young people send virtual gifts and simple greetings when they see that it is a friend’s birthday using birthday calendar. Now with Mashup Cards they can up the ante … and send remixes with videos directly to a friend’s wall, or privately via email.

Finding something funny in different languages can be impossible, so we designed the application to allow people to search a world of images and videos directly from Facebook,  Flickr and YouTube, while mixing in titles and messages in their language of choice.

They can use the integrated Picnik module to add funny effects to photos, bubbles, and clip art.   Picnik is a popular application with the Facebook crowd, so much so that the company was just acquired by Google.  A Toronto fashion design student, Priya Mistry said “I really liked the way the Birthday application allowed me to import and modify my Facebook pictures, and add YouTube videos right into my Card.”

The core application is always free with advertising on the site, and the Company intends to add premium print and gifting features in 2010.

Valentines Cards with Condoms

TORONTO  February 4, 2010   Internet personalities are bold, but private videos and pictures can take classic Valentines cards to a whole new rating.   In this video example, a hot girl has sent her boyfriend a mashup of personal pictures and videos, with the sultry “unlike the other cards I have made, this one’s set to private.”

The new templates at MashupArts.com help people to not only mix picture and video ecards, but also to search for free content from sites like Flickr and YouTube.

While user generated content has exploded on the net, over the last few years, most people have figured out that certain images are best shared privately. The new Mashup Arts service, which is integrated with Facebook and allows people to carry over their privacy settings and personal Facebook pictures, also allows for a higher privacy level, so cards cannot be reposted or forwarded – a type of condom for the private cards ;-)

The Jonas Brothers leads the 10 Most Popular video clips added to Mashup Video Ecards this Christmas

The Jonas Brothers rendition of Feliz Navidad with thousands of fans singing along in Mexico has been a popular YouTube addition to Christmas Mashup Cards. Comedy clips are the most popular and fastest growing YouTube search category, and we have been enjoying the community picks.

The staff favorites are “Mr Bean presents a ring to his GF”, and the “Cher Christmas Fireplace”, which features the wonderful storytelling of William Conrad. The “Mom is Santa” clip is hilarious with its sexual innuendo. Here are the top 10:

The most popular collaborations have been family cards, often using the newspaper template to tell a story and share recent photos and slide shows. Fans have been using the new picnik module to add seasonal bling to their photos, like red hats and stockings, or frames of holly. Merry Christmas Everybody, and Seasons Greetings to all.

Season’s Greetings and Season’s Tweetings

Christmas and Santa are trending topics on twitter – it’s the fastest moving stream on the net, and the crowds are on top of everything. Downtown at Facebook, shopping plans and sick jokes are trending at our semi-private parties. It’s a mix of Hollywood and the neighborhood.

How we exchange insults and greetings varies by generation, and most of us will use a couple of methods this year. Many people will opt for Facebook messages and personal ecards this season, in part because it is green, but mainly for the convenience. With over 100 million electronic greetings to be sent in December, what are the new choices this year?

At the top three sites, 123Greetings, American Greetings and Jibjab there are professional studio cards, with more animation that ever before, and a trend to put your pictures into the card. These personal touches mean a lot for these “once a year” greetings.

2009 is a year when the sharing of personal videos and pictures really took off. Every day, hundreds of thousands of videos are uploaded to YouTube and over 80 million pictures to facebook. With all this publishing and sharing, you can expect to see more amateur cards this year, as people decide to tell their own stories and remix funny content.
